Inky Stars Chart

Enter a birth date, time and place. The page works out the UTC time for you and shows its working, so you can check it.

Birth details

Type a town or city and choose it from the list. Add a region to narrow it down, for example "Newport, Wales".

Location and timezone

The timezone is picked from the coordinates and applies that region's historical clock rules. A fixed offset replaces it, which is useful when you have a birth certificate that states the offset or a place with unusual history.

Planet positions use the astronomy-engine library and were checked against Swiss Ephemeris on twelve test charts from 1920 to 2026 across both hemispheres: planets, Ascendant, Midheaven and true node all agreed to within 0.01°. Place names and coordinates come from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and, for UK towns and villages, Ordnance Survey. Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2026, used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Prototype scope: Whole Sign houses only; positions shown to the arcminute, truncated as astrologers usually quote them.
